Longtime island resident Florence Barbara Klinefelter, 93, died in Seattle at Virginia Mason Hospital on March 30.
She was born Aug. 5, 1907 in Seattle to George and Grace (Wolf) Bellman. She lived on Bainbridge in the early 1960s, moving to Lacey, during the 1980s. She returned to Bainbridge in 1987.
She attended the Cornish School of Music and the University of Washington.
Her interests included painting, for which she was well known; playing piano; needlepoint and knitting, evident in the toys and hats she knit for the children’s orthopedic department of Children’s Hospital in Seattle.
She enjoyed beachcombing, gardening, classical music, her “Shanghai Card Group” and her grandchildren.
She is survived by son Peter B. Klinefelter of Index, Wash.; daughters Barbara Ann Holmstead of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Judith Cabana of Seward, Ark.; her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Melvin T. Klinefelter, preceded her in death in 1990.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. April 7 at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church.
