Florence Edna Powell of Bainbridge Island died May 5 at Messenger House.

She was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Tyburska) Wawrzyniak. She graduated from Central Catholic High School (Toledo) in 1938, where she met future husband, Ralph Powell. They were married June 8, 1940.

She worked in various retail dress shops and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by daughters Lynne Stockwell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jill Jepson of Bainbridge Island; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home.
