Floyd Lovell Vail, 74, a Bainbridge Island resident for 38 years, died July 19 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born on March 23, 1931 to William Justin and Marla Vail in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He worked as a mechanical engineer and was a member of the American Society of Military Engineers.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Marla Vail of Bainbridge Island, to whom he was married for 53 years; children, Gregory Vail of Bozeman, Mont., and Mark (Mary) Vail of Poulsbo; siblings, Rex Vail of Rochester, N.Y., and Caroline Rodeck of Port Townsend; grandchildren, Melissa (Chad) Johnsrud, Justin (Beth) Vail, Anne (Stewart) Liley, Allison Vail, Carrie Vail and Eric Vail; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Riley Vail and Isaac Johnsrud.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. July 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Bainbridge Island ward building, with interment at Kane Cemetery.
