Frank Albert Peabody
March 20, 1927 – November 20, 2011
Frank will be remembered for his dry wit, his love of nature, his fabulous huckleberry pies, his three excellent children, and his one fine grandson.
Born in Forest Grove, OR and raised in Stayton, OR, he served in WWII, and was a graduate of the University of Oregon and NYU. Frank was a buyer for Frederick and Nelson from 1951 to 1980 and then retired to his beloved summer home on Bainbridge Island.
He was predeceased by his parents John W. Peabody and Lucy Ebert Peabody and five brothers and sisters. Frank will be missed by Patricia, his wife of 51 years, son Daniel and grandson Dustin, of Mesa, AZ, daughter Melissa (Bear Dyson) of Seattle, WA, son William of Black Diamond, WA, sister Mary Ann Welter of Stayton, OR, and a host of nieces and nephews, especially Joe, Tina, Annie, Caleb, Ben, Cole and Dominick. The birds and wildlife he fed every day will miss him, too.
A tree planting and party celebrating Frank’s life will be held in March 2012 on Bainbridge Island. Remembrances may be made to The Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy or KCTS Channel 9. Or take a walk on the Fairy Dell Trail, which he fought to preserve for public use.
