Genevieve “Ginny” Mannino, of Bainbridge Island, died on March 10 at Harrison Hospital following a series of illnesses. She was 92.
She was born Mary Genevieve to Frank and Leora Eastman in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Nov. 25, 1916, Thanksgiving Day.
She taught the fifth grade for 26 years, mostly in the Corning, N.Y., school district, and was active in many school activities including drama, music, and the Teachers’ Union.
On Bainbridge Island, she was a mainstay in Bainbridge music and arts, active in the Poulsbo Yacht Club, and attended the Bainbridge Republican Womens’ Club luncheons.
She loved traveling, playing bridge, dancing, and giving dinner parties.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Mannino of Bainbridge Island; her daughter, Barry Laurence-Belaja of Poulsbo; and her sons, Joseph Laurence of Bainbridge Island and John Laurence of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at 3 p.m. April 18 at The Poulsbo Yacht Club, 18129 Fjord Dr. in Poulsbo.
