Long-time Bainbridge Island resident Glenn Mitchell, age 79, died July 13.
He was born and raised in San Jose, Calif. He attended Heald College in San Francisco, and served in the Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific.
He lived with his wife Anne in Sausalito, Calif., for 15 years. During that time, he worked in engineering and also as an architectural photographer. His photos were published in House Beautiful, Sunset, the San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle, and many other publications.
He and his wife moved to Bainbridge Island with their children Amy and David in 1971. He worked in engineering until he retired in 1987.
The couple traveled extensively during his retirement, including a trip around the world. He enjoyed sailing and building boats, and also practiced shiatzu.
He is survived by his wife Anne; son David and daughter-in-law; Sasha Henry of Olympia; and daughter Amy and son-in-law, Dan Guptill of Rockland, Maine.
