Bainbridge Island resident Gunnar Frank Wicklund, age 91, died Jan. 2 at Martha and Mary Health Center in Poulsbo.
He was born April 21, 1910 in Seattle to Frank and Julia (Carlson) Wicklund.
In 1940, he married Anita Lindeman.
He worked for Seattle City Light on the Skagit Hydroelectric Project from 1939-1941, and was a machinist and automobile mechanic for the City of Seattle from 1941 until retirement in 1972.
The couple then moved to Rockaway Beach on Bainbridge Island.
He was an active member of the Sportsman’s Club on Bainbridge Island and in Bethany Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Elsie Engeset and Carl Wicklund.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Anita Wicklund of Bainbridge Island; one son, Robert, and daughter Karen Kushner of Bainbridge Island; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at Bethany Lutheran Church.
