Henry Cragerud, of Bainbridge Island, died on June 8. He was 78.
He was born on May 4, 1931 in Seattle to Henry and Eleanor (Woodrow) Cragerud and was raised on Bainbridge Island.
He was a 50-year member of I.B.E.W. Local 77 and was instrumental in starting emergency medial service in Kitsap and neighboring counties, also helping to bring the 911 system to Bainbridge. He was employed by Kitsap County as a traffic engineer and managed many large projects.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Colin Hyde Post #172 as well as past president of Bainbridge Island Little League and Pack Leader of Boy Scout Troop 565.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Hazel. Survivors include son Philip (Celine); two daughters, Lynn and Lisa (Carl); four grandchildren, Emily, Erik, Rebecca and Scotty; his brother John (Lola); and two sisters, Linnea and Kristina.
At his request, there will be no service. Remembrances may be made to the Bainbridge Island Ambulance Association.
