Herman C. Duckworth

Herman C. Duckworth, 81, of Bainbridge Island died April 20 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after an aneurysm.

He was born May 27, 1922, in Minneapolis, Kan., to Albert and Ruth Duckworth. He graduated from high school in Cassville, Mo.

He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945, where he earned the Philippine Liberation Medal and Bronze Stars.

On May 4, 1946, he married Dolores Bokovoy.

He went on to work for 11 years as a masonry contractor and 27 years as a meat cutter with Town and Country Market on Bainbridge.

He enjoyed gardening and greenhouse work, and was a member of Bainbridge First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Dolores; two sons, Ronald and Donald Duckworth; a daughter, Pamela Duckworth; a sister, Betty (Duckworth) Morris; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A brother, Robert, preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. April 24 at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton, followed by a reception at 3:30 p.m. at the Bainbridge First Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Bainbridge First Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn.
