Janet Young, whose family were early settlers of Bainbridge Island dating back to 1869, died on June 26 at the age of 87.

Janet was active in the Bainbridge Island Historical Society and Friends of the Library. She was a member of the Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the Pioneers.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Young, son Jay Young (Merrilee Conway), daughter Margaret Hansche (Brian Hansche), and grandchildren Rebecca Encinas (Ben Encinas), Eric Hansche, Ross Young and Mia Young.

A memorial service will be held at the Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. July 18. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bainbridge Island Friends of the Library or a favorite organization of the donor. An online guest book is at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
