Joseph Weston Hall, 67, died Jan. 19 at his home on Bainbridge Island following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 24, 1935 in Denton, Texas, to Joseph Weston Hall, Sr. and Norma McMillan Hall.
He attended Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va., and North Texas University, Denton, Texas. He held bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architectural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
His 42-year career led to his involvement in many nationally recognized projects. He was also an active member of several professional
organizations — he was a life member of ASCE and SEAW, serving as president of SEAW
in 1972. He was a member of American Concrete Institute (ACI), serving on the pre-stressed concrete committee for 25 years. He was a member and founding director of Structural Engineers Association of Texas (SEAT).
He enjoyed skiing, mountain climbing, writing and pursuing his interest in history.
He is survived by his wife, Tinka, Bainbridge Island; his mother, Norma Hall, Woodinville, Wash.; one son Joseph Weston “Trey” Hall and wife Ann, Littleton, Colo.; four daughters, Catherine Reynolds, Puyallup, Wash; Paige
Boren, Poulsbo, Wash.; Heidi Boren, Los Angeles, Calif.; Wendy Morrill and husband
Charles, Niger, Africa; and six grandchildren, Ryan Hall, Dallin Hall, Robert Reynolds, Ryley Reynolds, Sam Pappas and Graham Morrill.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
