Larry A. Smith, age 55, of Bainbridge Island died Sept. 2 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.

He was born Jan. 25, 1947 in Grants Pass, Ore. to Victor J. Smith and Jewel Bernice (Butler) Muller.

He graduated from N. Kitsap High School in 1965. From 1966 to 1972, he served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of SP-4 and receiving bronze service stars.

For the next 35 years, he led a career as a self-employed contractor.

He was a member of the Harley Riding Club.

He is survived by three sisters — Diana Anderson of Stanwood; Debbie Mowell of San Antonio, Texas; and Jewel May of Tacoma.

Services were held Sept. 7 under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.
