Bainbridge Island resident Lois May Wood, age 66, died Nov. 24.
She was born Feb. 20, 1935 in Cheyenne, Wy. to Joseph and Elsie (Sukup) Svoboda.
Her father worked for Union Oil and she moved many times during her life. She spent part of her elementary school days in Redondo, Wash. and considered this state her home. She graduated from El Segundo California High School.
Upon graduation from La Sierra College in Southern California with a double major in biology and chemistry, she began work at Lever Brothers in Los Angeles. Later she worked in the integrated circuit board industry with Connecticut-based Macdermid Company.
She retired at age 55 and began work on her favorite pastime, creating dolls and witches. She was a fan of outdoor activities and instilled in her children a love for nature.
She is survived by her son, Steven Wood of Grafton, Wisc.; two daughters, Katherine Wood of Bainbridge Island and Linda Wood of Anaheim, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home.
