Bainbridge Island resident, Loretta Evelyn Bessor, age 95, died Nov. 19 at Messenger House Care Center
She was born in Anaconda, Mont. Sept. 9, 1906 to Joseph and Mary (Glover) Johnson.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Most of her professional career was as a first grade teacher in Bellevue. When she lived in Bellevue, she had a route she walked where she knew all the shopkeepers and neighbors.
When she moved to Winslow in 1981, she created the same close-knit network. As a piano teacher or first grade teacher, she became a mentor to many students, who continued to correspond with her.
She is survived by her three grandchildren, Terri Brennan of New York N.Y., Kelly Mooney, of Kirkland and TJ Brennan, Indianola.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at Kane Cemetery on Lafayette Road, Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
