Margaret Jo Norris, 83, of Bainbridge Island, died April 18.
She was born Nov. 25, 1918 in Burkburnett, Texas to Grace and Bruce Grissette.
She was educated at John Tarleton University. IN 1938, she married Durward Kirtley.
She began her professional career a dance instructor in San Diego, Calif., where she was the dancing partner of both Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire. In 1948, she married Navy Lt. Dan Moorhead.
In 1962, she began a new career in the hotel industry, eventually becoming Marketing Director for Handlery Hotels Town & Country Inn in San Diego. She moved to Bainbridge Island in 1996.
She is survived by sons Durward “Woody” Kirtley, Jr. of Bainbridge; Dan Moorhead, Jr., and Drew Moorhead, and five granddaughters.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. May 3 at Martha and Mary, Poulsbo, with private inurnment at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima.
