Marlene LaMonica of Kingston passed away on April 26, 2017 at the age of 74.
Marlene was born in Staten Island, New York to Elaine Zimmerman on May 30, 1942. She graduated from Far Rockaway High School and completed computer courses at Adelphi University. She married Arthur (“Artie”) LaMonica on Feb. 16, 1960 in Far Rockaway. Marlene worked in technology for almost 60 years and was proud to be among the first group of women to define and expand the meaning of women working in computer technology. Her creative pursuits included sewing clothing for herself and her children, caring for animals, and painting and drawing. Marlene was also very adventurous, and she enjoyed travel, fast muscle cars, and loud music. She was an incredible mother, friend, family member and mentor to the people in her life.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband Arthur and daughter Debbie. She is survived by her children Annette(Sal) of Kingston, Washington, Sherry (Jon) of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Alan (Donna) of Warren, New Jersey, 5 grandchildren, and her friends and caregivers.
