Kingston resident Mary Beth Beaulieu died Dec. 19. She was 71.

She was born to Tom and Vivian Hoban in Seattle on Dec. 11, 1933. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School and then from Roosevelt High School in 1950.

She worked as a dental assistant and attended Seattle University. In the summer of 1951, she won the title of Miss University District in the Seafair celebration. She was selected as the First Lady in Waiting to the Queen and represented Seattle in parades and community events around the Northwest when the Queen could not. In 1952, she was selected as Miss Liberty by the American Legion. She also appeared in the Ice Follies.

She married Robert Charles Beaulieu on June 25, 1955.

Beaulieu earned a real estate license, and worked for Windermere Real Estate for 22 years, both in Seattle and Poulsbo, and then joined John L. Scott in Kingston in 2001.

She and her husband had a summer home in Mission Beach where they enjoyed boating, fishing and other special activities with their family. In 1989, the couple moved to Kingston where Beaulieu often participated in the Kingston Fourth of July Parade as the Tooth Fairy.

She is survived by her husband Chuck of Kingston; sons Charlie of Indianola, Christopher (Patti) of Los Altos, Calif., Joseph (Penny) of Kingston and Edward (Sharon) of Edmonds; daughter Deb Boardman (Al) of Kingston; brother Tom Hoban of Marysville; sister Margaret Moore of Kingston; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 29 at St. Peter’s Mission in Suquamish with a reception following at the Kiana Lodge in Suquamish. Arrangements are under the care of the Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
