Michael John Duggan, of Suquamish, died on Jan. 2 of complications related to ALS. He was 45.
Mike’s colorful life started on July 20, 1963 in Langford, B.C., where his obsession with space and science began. He and his beloved 1971 Camero graduated from Belmont College in 1981. From there, Mike went onto many different adventures including flying airplanes, attending space shuttle launches, throwing pool parties and working in telecommunications in Iraq.
Mike’s greatest achievement was the guidance, respect and love he gave as Dad to beautiful Tiffany. They adored each other and Mike delighted in the friendship, conversations and adventures with her.
Mike blazed a trail through life in 45 short, wild, wonderful years that few could imagine. His “live life large” style was infectious, inspirational and to his enjoyment, may have raised an eyebrow or two. Mike’s friendship, generosity and heart was boundless. He was blessed with a disarming style, a quick brain and lots of guts; his life, though far too short, burned bright.
He was preceded in death by his father, John. He is survived by his mother, Mary Duggan and sister Sheila Humphries, both of of Courtney, B.C.; and daughter, Tiffany Arthur, of Washington, D.C. He also leaves behind family and friends in California, Bainbridge Island, Washington, Victoria, B.C., and beyond. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 10 at St Cecilia Catholic Church, with refreshments to follow. A celebration of his life will take place in the coming weeks; please check http://mikedugganslife.blogspot.com/ for the date.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ALS Association in memory of Mike Duggan.
