Dr. Rahsan Anisoglu, age 84, died April 13 at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island.
He was born December 14, 1917 in Turkey. After earning his degree in medicine from the University of Istanbul, he practiced pediatrics in his native country for ten years.
He married Yuksel Muratoglu, in 1950 and moved his family to the United States in 1957.
He received his degree in psychiatry from the University of Syracuse (NY). He worked at Willard State Hospital in New York, then at Northville State Hospital in Michigan where he eventually became director of admissions. He spent the last ten years of his career in private practice. He retired to St. Petersburg Beach, Fla. before moving to Bainbridge Island in 1998 to be near his children.
He traveled extensively and enjoyed his profession and his family. Following retirement, he loved to spend his summers in Istanbul visiting family, friends and home.
He is survived by his wife, Yuksel of Istanbul; two sons, Cihan Anisoglu (Bonnie) and Omer Anisso (Janelle) both of Bainbridge Island; and three grandchildren, Sean and Karli Anisoglu and Isabella Anisso.
A private memorial is being planned by his family. Arrangements were under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
