Regina Marion O’Donnell James

Former Bainbridge Island resident Regina Marion O’Donnell James died Feb. 10 in Gig Harbor, after suffering a brain aneurysm seven months ago.

She was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

While residing on Bainbridge Island, she managed the Washington State Liquor Store. She retired in 2004 after 26 years of service with the state.

In retirement, she pursued her interests in gardening and developing her 11-acre property in Allyn, with her husband Randy James. She was an active volunteer with animal rescue in Mason County.

She is survived by husband Randy James; stepson Miles; sisters Kathleen (Jeff) Kutz and Eileen O’Donnell; nieces Theresa and Angela; and great-niece Megan.

She was preceded in death by James Ofsthun and survived by stepchildren Mike, Darren (Kathy) and Jamie; and two grandchildren, Kevin and Christina.

The family expressed its thanks to caregivers during her illness, including the neurosurgical team at Harborview Medical Center, Dr. Laligam Sekhar and his staff at Neuro ICU and 3 West.

Memorial services were Feb. 25, with arrangements by Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor. Remembrances may be made to Union Gospel Mission; or HMC at 1325 Fourth Ave., Seattle, WA 98101.
