Richard Palmer Hollis
Richard Palmer Hollis, of Bainbridge Island, died peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 11. He was 77.
Richard was born Aug. 28, 1932 in Omaha, Neb. to Mary Louise and William Palmer Hollis.
Richard earned his masters degree in electrical engineering at Northwestern University. It was there he met Barbara Louise Norby, whom he married on Nov. 23, 1955. They were married 54 years and had three sons and seven grandchildren.
Richard served in the Army and worked for ITT Corporation, and later Watkins-Johnson Corporation, where he worked for 30 years and rose to vice president. His job took him around the world several times over.
At age 62, Richard retired and moved with Barbara to Bainbridge Island, where he became active in the church and community.
Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Charles, James and John; daughters-in-law Rosa, Leisa, Joan and Cara; and grandchildren Laura, Stephen, Madeline, Ryan, Kyle, Abigail and Kaya.
A memorial service was held Feb. 17 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church.
