Robert Hendricks, age 94, died Sept. 6 at Horizon House in Seattle.
He was born May 17, 1908 in Kaslo, B.C., to Robert Hendricks and Elizabeth Ann Thatcher. He was educated at Washington State University, where he graduated in 1929.
In 1932, he married to Mildred Bernice Hayton of Mount Vernon.
A metallurgical engineer and mining executive, he spent his entire professional career with the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada (Cominco), where he rose from a member of the assay staff to CEO and chairman.
He was preceded in death by Mildred, his devoted wife of 54 years. He is survived by his companion Jane Pelly of Seattle; his son Robert Wayne and daughter-in-law Delores Black Hendricks of Blacksburg, Va.; his daughter Judith Anne Brown and son-in-law George Brown of Bainbridge; five grandchildren — Christopher Brown and Sarah Barnett of Washington, D.C., James and Elizabeth Hendricks of Superior, Colo., Eric and Sacha Brown of Altadena, Calif., Kathleen and Christian Hill of Everett and Karen and Brian Chemel of Salem, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at Horizon House, with interment at the family plot in Mount Vernon on Sept. 22.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Residents’ Assistance Fund at Horizon House.
