Ronald Van Beuzekom

July 14, 1929 – May 10, 2012

      Ron van Beuzekom was born in Jakarta, Indonesia.

      He survived internment camps under the Japanese from 1942-1945.

      After WWII he continued his high school education in Bandung until 1947. His family immigrated to Holland in 1947, settling outside of Amsterdam.

      He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1954 from the University of Utrecht. From 1954-1956 he served in the Dutch army, earning the rank of lieutenant in a light artillery division.

      In October of 1956, he was the first of his family to immigrate to the US. His first job was with Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, NY.

      There he met Alice Vail of Orient, NY. They married in July of 1963.

      In October of 1965, they headed west to Seattle Washington. Ron was hired by the Chemithon Corporation. In 1968 Ron and Alice moved to Bainbridge Island where they lived until 1996. Ron attended the Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church and Christ Memorial of Poulsbo while living on the island.

      Eventually Ron settled in Cape George village in Port Townsend in 2002.

      Ron was an avid tennis player and Bible scholar. He loved to strike up a conversation with any one around him. He was known for his laugh.

      Ron loved to travel. He spoke several languages and spent time on all continents except Antarctica. His business took him from Brazil to India and from the Philippines to Sweden.

      He is survived by his brother Edwin and sister Estella in Florida, His wife Alice, four children Zephirine (Jim) Foster, Liesbeth (Phil) Robison, Erik (Pattie) Van Beuzekom, and Maryke (Kevin) Parks and two grandchildren Jesse and Andrea Foster.

      A memorial will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at 5:00pm at Cape George Colony Club, 61 Cape George Drive – Port Townsend, WA 98368
