Sharon Lee Neuswanger, age 79, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 24, 2023.
Sharon was born on December 23, 1943, in Salmon, Idaho, to Henry and Sarah (Sadie(Blasingame)) Neal. She was the youngest of four children. The family owned the local JC Penney’s store and apartment building on Main Street in Salmon; her dad was the sheriff.
After graduation from Salmon High School, Sharon attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, where she met the love of her life, Carl Neuswanger. They married in August 1963. She taught at Bishop Kelly High School and Olympic College.
Anyone who knew Sharon would say she was the sweetest person, always smiling, and had a wonderful personality and an incredible laugh. She loved telling stories from her childhood, teaching, studying genealogy, sailing, cruising in old cars, and making fun memories for her family.
She was State Treasurer for the Washington State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and Regent of the Elizabeth Ellington Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Founder of the Bainbridge Island Genealogy Club, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Shilshole Bay Yacht Club, Eagle Harbor Yacht Club, Olympic Vintage Auto Club (OVAC), National Corvette Restores Society, Marque Club of Seattle, and the Glass Odyssey Corvette Club.
Sharon is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Neuswanger and Tara (Neuswanger) Strom, son-in-law, Aaron Strom, and three grandsons, Cruz, Maxwell and Bodie Strom. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl.
