Former Bainbridge Island resident Thelma Coates, age 103, died July 13 in Portland, Ore.

She was born July 19, 1901 to John F. and Mary Ann (Nelson) Hayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Coates.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Stiles of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. July 19 at Kane Cemetery.
