Velma Lady

Velma Lady, of Bainbridge Island, died on Sept. 4 in Bremerton. She was 78.

She was born to William Cunningham and Della Adams on Sep.t 1, 1931 in Mammond British Columbia, Canada.

She met and later married Louis Lady, Jr. in Seattle. They moved to Bainbridge in 1957, where they raised their family.

She was loved and admired, and was known to provide love and support to many people. She loved to cook and host family gatherings; spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and take occasional trips to the casino.

She is survived by daughters Marsha (Orin) Sateren of Everett, Mona Thompson of Bremerton, Louanne Lady of Kent and Wilma Lady of Bainbridge Island; three sisters; two brothers; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Louis Lady, Jr.; four sisters; three brothers and one grandson.

A memorial mass will be held on Sept. 18 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at the church’s Conger hall. Arrangements are by Linde Family Funeral Service.
