Virginia Edith Felts, age 93, died Jan. 15 at her Bainbridge Island home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1908 in Garland, Utah, the daughter of Ephraim and Mary (Wanlass) Marshall.
She was under contract to MGM Studios in Hollywood as singer and actress. She earned $1,000 a week in an era when her soon-to-be husband earned $100 a week as a salesman and later as a sales manager.
She married Robert Felts on Christmas Day, 1938 in North Hollywood.
They moved to Seattle in 1939, where she reared three children.
Maintaining her interest in music and her church, she was president of the Young Women of the Church, the Primary Department (for toddlers) and the church’s relief society. She also loved children and animals.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert of Bainbridge Island; one son, Marshall Felts, of Sandy, Utah; two daughters, Susan Charles of Hood River, Ore. and Mary Blythe Kyber of West Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Bainbridge Island, with the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Salt Lake City, Utah.
