Virginia Hedlund, of Bremerton, died on July 11 at the Bremerton home of her son in-law and daughter, George and Lila Mills. She was 86.
Formerly a long-time resident of Bainbridge Island, Virginia had lived in Bremerton since 2002.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1922 to Charles A. Chapel and Zell Logan in Tacoma. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle then completed nurses training before marrying Clarence R. Hedlund on April 10, 1943. They had two daughters, Linda Ann and Lila Beth.
The family moved to Point White in 1952; she worked as a long-time nurse at the Winslow Clinic. She was a faithful member of the Bainbridge Alliance Church and more recently, Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and her daughter, Linda. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lila and George Mills, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Cremation was by Tuell-McKee Funeral Home; her ashes will be placed in the Kane Cemetery on Bainbridge Island No service is currently planned. Messages may be sent to gwmills@comcast.net.
