Vonda Carroll Daily

V. Carroll “Pete” Daily, of Bainbridge Island, died on March 31 after a long illness.

He was born on July 15, 1936 in Donophan, Mo., and moved to Fellows, Calif., (near Bakersfield) when he was 6 years old. There, he attended Taft High School playing football and baseball, graduating in 1955.

He attended Taft College and Humbolt State University, majoring in forestry. At Humbolt, he met and married Shirley June Ross. Pete went on to work for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1995 after more than 30 years of service. Pete wore a happy smile, was always ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone, and enjoyed many things in life: sports – especially golf – fishing, camping, and horses. He was an advocate for persons with disabilities, and enjoyed the fellowship of his church brethren, most recently at North Kitsap Baptist Church in Poulsbo.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Steve Daily; his daughter, Carol (Rob) Wood; and grandsons Sean and Kelsey Wood of Bainbridge Island.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date. An online guest book is at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
