Staff members of the Bainbridge Review are excited to be offering readers a new look for the newspaper as we switch to a weekly tabloid format that will be delivered to your homes and available at island newsstands each Friday morning.
Some challenges and fine-tuning of our product lies ahead, including an enhanced online product that will offer daily accounts of island news and events. We are convinced that the changes will help us provide islanders with a publication and online presence that is informational, engaging and reflective of the special community that we serve.
Today’s 32-page paper includes a pullout section featuring Bainbridge High School’s eye-popping 200 Building, which was opened to students and staff Monday and will be presented to the community tomorrow with an open-house celebration.
Photographer Brad Camp and reporter Tad Sooter were turned loose in the new complex this week, Camp capturing the building’s unique use of light and openness and Sooter talking to students about their impressions of their sparkling new home away from home.
As you can see, one of the more pleasing aspects of the new Review is our continuing emphasis on quality photography and the compartmentalizing of specific coverage. Beginning next week, the Review will feature a second “front page” and a page and half set aside for arts, business and sports coverage.
In the past, sometimes it felt as if the Reveiw staff spent much of its time careening from deadline to deadline. Perhaps the best part of our new product will be our ability to slow down a bit and make sure that each publication is the best we can offer.
