The Bainbridge boys swim team hosted North Kitsap Jan. 24 to see which team is the best in Kitsap County.
The Spartans won 10 of the 12 events, but the Vikings did reach the podium several times. Sota Inoue, Robbie Nakhuda, Eddie Nakhuda and Mathias Bang-Knudsen won three events each.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Spartans’ Inoue, Robbie Nakhuda, Eddie Nakhuda and Bang-Knudsen won with a time of 1 minute, 40.68 seconds, a state qualifying time. Vikings’ Levi McClain, Justin Anderson, Henry Maxwell and Evan Silcott finished second in 1:56.06, while Spartans’ Micah Webber, Ryan Rich, Beckett Lipton and Ian Letson finished third in 2:00.77.
Bainbridge’s RJ Rossart won the 200 free in 2:02.70, Hayden Ludwig was second in 2:05.07 and Michael Bannister third in 2:06.05. Inoue also won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.55, while Letson finished second in 2:12.52 and McClain third in 2:14.39.
The Spartans swept the 50 free. Robbie Nakhuda won in 22.43 seconds, Jason Geddes finished second in 22.89 and Rylan Hopp was third in 23.91.
The Vikings had two divers compete in the 1-meter event. Rydley Strong scored 146.8 points while Anderson scored 126.
McClain returned to the pool and won the 100 butterfly in 56.48 seconds. Letson finished second in 58.77 and Rossart third in 1:03.33.
In the 100 free, also swept by the Spartans, Elias Dean won in 49.17, Robbie Nakhuda finished second in 49.27 and Bang-Knudsen third in 49.42.
Eddie Nakhuda won the 500 free in 5:06.90, Bradley Roloff finished second in 5:51.40 and Viking Andrew Gyllensten was third in 5:59.25.
In the 200 free relay, Geddes, Bang-Knudsen, Robbie Nakhuda and Liam O’Brien won in 1:32.96. Bannister, Rich, Ludwig and Hopp finished second in 1:40.94, and Vikings’ James Mayou, Anderson, Max Nolan and Gyllensten finished third in 1:44.93.
Inoue won the 100 backstroke in 59.13. Maxwell finished second in 1:02.49 and Spartan Jonas Michael was third in 1:07.03.
Eddie Nakhuda won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.69, Geddes finished second in 1:07.62, and Hopp third in 1:09.24.
Bang-Knudsen, Zachary Shields, Letson and Inoue ended the meet by winning the 400 free relay in 3:39.87. McClain, Gyllensten, Nolan and Maxwell finished second in 3:46.34, and Spartans’ Lucas Cuellar-Carpenter, Milo Merritt, Leo Soboil and Webber finished third in 4:14.72.
