Bainbrige Island more than held its own against perennial powerhouses O’Dea and Holy Names in last week’s track meet at home.

The Spartans hosted the girls track team from Holy Names and Lakeside, and the boys teams for O’Dea and Lakeside. More than 200 athletes from all four schools competed.

It was a close finish in the girls 100-meter dash, with Nia Johnson of Holy Names taking first with a time of 12.37. Katherine Bond placed fourth for Bainbridge (12.94); fellow Spartans Bailey Scheffler was sixth (13.60), Katie Shepard was seventh (13.69) and Serena Canner was ninth (13.81).

Runners from Holy Names also dominated in the girls 200-meter dash, with three top-five finishers.

Amalia Acorda-Fey finished first (26.90) for the Cougars.

Bainbridge had four athletes in the top 10: Joli Holmes, fifth (29.30); Bailey Scheffler, seventh (31.00); Maddie Gander, ninth (36.10); and Mckenzie Thomas, 10th (31.80).

Pearl Terry claimed first place in the girls 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:00.00.

Teammate Kore Busath-Haedt placed eighth (1:11.60).

In the girls 800-meter run, Mikelle Ackerley won first in 2:24.40.

Isabel Ferguson claimed fourth place for the Spartans, finishing in 2:29.20.

Bainbridge also finished strong in the girls 1,600-meter run.

Signe Lindquist was first with a time of 5:47.40.

Kellie Miller was fourth (6:05.20); Alison Wise, fifth (6:05.20); and Julia Thomas, sixth (6:12.40).

Lakeside had a strong showing in the girls 3,200-meter run, claiming first and third.

Andrea Masterson finished first for the Lions in 11.49.40.

Anna Misenti was fourth for Bainbridge, with a time of 13:06.10.

The Spartans took first in the girls 100-meter hurdles, with Katie Shepard leading the pack with a time of 17.38.

Teammate Madeline Rogers was third (18.75) and Kaitlyn Wiggins, sixth (22.84).

Shepard also finished second in the girls 300-meter hurdles, at 55.90. Wiggins placed eighth (1:07.00).

The Spartans swept the relay races, with three first-place wins in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400.

In the 4×100 meter, the Bainbridge girls A team of Katherine Bond, Serena Canner, Madeline Rogers and Cailyn Schreck won in 54.03. Holy Names’ A and B teams took second and third, respectively.

In the 4×200 meter, the Spartan girls A team of Ivy Terry, Canner, Joli Holmes and Bond won in 1:55.87, beating the second-place finisher Holy Names team by nearly 7 seconds.

In the girls 4×400 meter, the Bainbridge A team of Terry, Isabel Ferguson, Pearl Terry and Holmes claimed first place in 4:24.90.

Lakeside’s A relay team was second in 4:26.60.

In the girls high jump, Cecelia Jackson of Holy Names won with a jump of 5-02; Ferguson was second with 4-10. Wiggins of BHS came in 10th (3-08).

In the girls pole vault, Paige Adams took second place, clearing 5-00. Vaiva Palunas of Lakeside was first (7-00).

Holy Names and Lakeside nabbed the first and second spots in the girls long jump; Madeline Rogers was sixth for the Spartans (13-08.50).

Holy Names dominated in the girls throwing events, though there were bright spots for Bainbridge.

Isa Todd won the discus with a toss of 63-03.

Todd also claimed fourth place in the shot put (25-01.00). Ericka Armstead of Lakeside was first (30-01.00).

In the boys 100-meter dash, Matt Stone of Bainbridge took third with a time of 11.03.

Jonathon Wells of O’Dea was first (10.79).

Four other Spartans finished in the top 10: Joseph Misenti, seventh (11.75); Evan de Normandie, eighth (12.00); and Stefan Collier, 10th (12.53).

Stone was set for first in the boys 200-meter dash, finishing in 24.10.

Tyler Martinez-Green was sixth in the finals at 25.50; Jackson Byer, seventh (25.60); Misenti, eighth (25.70); Collier, ninth (25.80); and Trevor Wikstrom, 11th (26.10).

In the boys 400-meter dash, Austin Harper was fifth in 57.86. Myles Gaskin of O’Dea won in 54.53.

In the boys 800-meter run, Brendan Willerford placed third (2:07.90) and teammate Colin Chupik was fourth (2:09.80).

Mirutse Heyesus took first for Lakeside (2:04.00).

In the boys 1,600-meter run, Bainbridge’s Tyler Cox took second in 4:39.10, edged by Brian Masterson of Lakeside (4:33.10).

Tomas Delgado placed fourth for the Spartans (5:02.40);  followed by teammates Gordon Shelton-Jenck, sixth place (5:26.50); Nolan Stockman, seventh (5.33.80); Edward Wilson, eighth (5:38.20); and William Morris (5:45.00).

In the boys 3,200-meter run, Chris Wilkerson placed fourth for Bainbridge in 10:59.30. Brian Masterson of Lakeside was first in 9:55.50.

Jay Terry took third place for the Spartans in the boys 110-meter hurdles (18.56). Jack Flor was first for O’Dea, 16.66.

Flor also won the 300-meter hurdles for the Fighting Irish (45.50). Terry placed sixth for Bainbridge (50.80).

In the boys 4×100 meter relay, the Bainbridge A team of Sam Pappas, Stone, Misenti and Nich Allen came in second at 48.35 to the O’Dea A team (44.32).

The Spartans’ A team of Colin Chupik, Corey Dunn, Austin Harper and Willerford won the 4×400 meter in 3:46.90.

The Bainbridge B team of Jackson Byer, Tyler Martinez-Green, Tyler Cox and Delgado finished sixth (4:03.90).

In the boys high jump, O’Dea claimed the top spots, with Flor in first (6-00.00).

William Morris of Bainbridge was fourth (5-02.000; teammate Jay Terry, fifth, (5-00.00); and Gabriel Shelton-Jenck, sixth, (4-10.00).

Cole Adams won the pole vault for Bainbridge (11-00.00), and fellow Spartan Joseph Misenti was second (10-06.00).

In the boys long jump, Johntye Jackson of O’Dea was first; Bainbridge’s Jackson Garber was sixth (15-08.00); and Taylor Wilson, ninth (15-01:75).

In the boys shot put, O’Dea claimed first through third place, with Bryan Carter in front (44-05.00). Cameron Brink earned fourth place for Bainbridge (41-08.00); Ryan Comstock, sixth (38-03.00); Kyler Mikami, seventh (36-00.00).

The Irish also won the discus, with a 144-09 throw by Evan Banchero.

Brink was second with 141-05. Kyler Mikami was fourth (108-09) and Casey Brink, sixth (99-02).

In team scores, O’Dea won in boys events, with 85 points. Bainbridge was second with 32, followed by Lakeside, 24.

In girls events, Holy Names led with 63 points. The Spartans were second with 50, followed by Lakeside, 32.
