The Spartan boys upset the ninth-ranked Irish 62-49 Friday.
Will DiIorio scored a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds, and Ryan Burris posted a 17-point, 11-rebound performance complete with three assists and three blocks.
The Spartans (3-1 in the Metro, 5-1 overall), shooting 45 percent from the floor, led the Irish (4-2 in the Metro, 5-2 overall) 28-24 at the half.
Second-chance points made the difference in the second half, as the Spartans outscored the Irish 14-8 in the third quarter.
Offensively, the fourth quarter was the Spartans’ most productive. Bainbridge scored 20 points to O’Dea’s 17 to hold onto the lead.
Chris Bell scored seven points and Michael Stevenson added four points and six rebounds.
O’Dea’s Keenan Durham led the Irish with 14 points.
Bainbridge will compete in San Diego’s Surf n Slam Tournament Dec. 28 before resuming Metro League play at Seattle Prep at 6 p.m. Jan. 5
