SEATLE – The Bainbridge High varsity boys basketball team came out on top in a 50-47 contest on the road against West Seattle Friday, Jan. 16.
West Seattle outscored the Spartans in the first quarter, 15-11, but Bainbridge came back strong in the second and managed to keep their opponents in check while making some plays of their own.
The game entered its second half with BHS trailing, but barely, 30-27.
The third was a game-changing quarter for the Spartans, who outscored the Wildcats 19-14.
The fourth was close, but the Spartans stayed ahead of West again, 14-13, and secured the win.
Three BHS players put up especially impressive numbers on the night: Trent Schulte led the team’s offensive efforts with 15 points scored, Blake Swanson chipped in 14 and Oskar Dieterich managed 12.
West Seattle is the second-ranked team in the Sound Division with an overall record of 8-6.
