The Bainbridge Island Dive Club saw strong performances from their Kitsap divers against some very tough Pacific Northwest competition at the Y Spring Classic in Boise, Idaho this past weekend.
The regional diving meet gave the team’s members from Bainbridge, Poulsbo and Kingston the chance to showcase their abilities on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, and some members of the team brought home blue ribbons.
In the Girls 14/15-year-old Division, Jackie Hellmers of Poulsbo placed second on the 1-meter with a score of 194.50 and won a blue ribbon on the 3-meter board with a score of 228.95.
Zora Opalka of Bainbridge earned a second place on the 1-meter board with a score of 334.50 and a fourth-place finish on the 3-meter board with a score of 339.15 in the Girls 16-18-year-old Division.
Cammie Rouser of Kingston also competed in the Girls 16-18-year-old Division and placed fourth on the 1-meter with a score of 301.65. She came in third on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 350.45.
In the Boys 12/13-year-old Division, Henry Sauermann of Bainbridge Island claimed second place on the 1-meter with a score of 163.20. He also took home a blue ribbon on the 3-meter board with a score of 190.40.
Carter Wolff of Bainbridge Island placed first on the 1-meter with a score of 118.20 in the FC Level 4 Boys Division.
The team is looking forward to their next meet: the U.S. Diving Regional Championships in Beaverton, Oregon in late April.
