SEATTLE – The Spartans were unable to turn their last win into a streak and suffered a 36-20 loss in their final varsity football outing Friday, Oct. 30 against Nathan Hale.
The loss brought the Spartan season record to 2-8 (1-5 in conference), earning them the sixth place in the Metro Mountain Division standings.
The island squad’s wins came against Ingraham (30-12, Sept. 25) and Evergreen (14-7, Oct. 23).
Despite the ultimate loss, by the numbers last week’s game against the Raiders was still better Bainbridge football overall.
Touchdowns were scored by Sam Wysong, Eric Jung and Keagan Barnes-Grant.
Jung led the Spartans’ rushing effort, going 13-for-113 in last week’s contest.
Wysong managed 24 carries for 86 yards, Barnes-Grant had five-for-39 and Nick Nordberg finished the night with one carry for 15 yards as well.
Jung also dominated the Spartans’ receiving game. He managed four-for-38, while Wysong put up three receptions for 37 yards as well.
Nordberg chipped in two-for-46 and Ethan Pelequin had one reception for nine yards.
Defensively, the Spartans saw big numbers from the usual stars.
Ben McDonald managed 12 solo and two assisted tackles. Sam Roth had 10 solo and one assisted, Kyle Bierly had seven and one as well and both Nordberg and Alex Picket each finished with seven total tackles.
The Bainbridge squad was slated to play their first outing of the postseason at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 on the road against Interlake High.
