PORTLAND – Bainbridge gymnasts brought home silver and gold medals after an outstanding outing at the 14th annual Rose City Challenge in Portland, Oregon.
The Bainbridge Level 4 team won the team silver against a hard-hitting field of more than a dozen teams at the competition, held Feb. 27 through March 1.
For the 7/8 age group, Dashiell Gann carried on his winning streak by claiming firsts on pommel horse and parallel bars, taking gold all-around.
For the 9/10-year-olds, Jacob Hall nabbed third on pommel and fourth on floor and parallel bars. He finished fourth overall.
Jayden Wood-Johnson was right on his heels; he was second on vault, third on floor and finished in fifth place overall.
Mace Korytko, competing in the 11-and-up category, took the top spot across the board on floor, pommel, vault, parallel bars and high bar, and hauled in first place overall.
Leo Uyekawa won a gold medal in Level 5 (age 9-10) all-around with firsts on floor, pommel, rings, vault and high bar.
Jack Ekstrand grabbed second on pommel and fourth on floor and high bar to cinch the bronze medal overall.
For the 11-and-up group, Aidan Cretarolo locked up first place on floor and high bar and came away with a gold medal in the all-around. The Level 5 team placed fourth.
Level 6 gymnasts delivered solid performances against tough opposition. Kiernan Liberman nailed first place on high bar and second on floor to grab fifth place overall. Abe Muldrow secured a seventh place on vault and sailed in at 10th overall.
The next stop for the Bainbridge team is the state meet on March 27-29 in Edmonds.
