BAINBRIDGE – Former Washington State University volleyball standout Holly (Harris) Rohrbacher has been named head coach of the varsity volleyball team at Bainbridge High, Spartan Athletic Director Kaycee Taylor announced Tuesday.

Rohrbacher played at WSU during the 1999-2002 seasons, and started all four years as a middle hitter. She also competed one year on the Cougar basketball team.

After graduating, Rohrbacher started coaching and has been head volleyball coach at Foster High School and Port Townsend High School, and has served as director of the Bainbridge Island Volleyball Club.

“I couldn’t be more honored and excited to join the BHS volleyball program and I can’t wait to begin training this talented group of players,” she said. “I’m excited to be at a school with exceptional academics, parent involvement and community support.”

“My goal is to make Bainbridge High School a consistently competitive program, and a team whose culture the players are proud to be associated with,” she added.

Taylor agreed that the announcement was good news for the school and the program.

“I’m excited to find what I think is a perfect fit for the volleyball coach [at BHS],” Taylor said. “Holly’s experience, energy, and passion will no doubt bring continued success to the program.”

Rohrbacher and her husband David have three children — William (7), Ryan (5) and Ellie (2) — and live on Bainbridge Island.
