Bainbridge impressive at huge cross country meet

The Bainbridge Spartans competed in one of the toughest cross country invitationals in the Northwest Oct. 8. The Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational in north Lakewood had teams from San Diego, Las Vegas and all across Washington and Oregon.

The Spartans boys team finished sixth out of 47 teams in the silver division. Captain Bodie Strom was the first Spartan to cross the finish line with a time of 17:36.6. Junior Laird Ferrel also finished in the Top 50, placing 45th out of 320 racers.

Bainbridge’s girls team continued to shine as they finished 12th in the gold division. Coach Anne Howard Linquist said Mairin O’Brien was the Spartans top individual, finishing sixth out of 254 runners. In addition, she shaved 18 seconds off her previous best time, finishing with a clocking of 18:52.
