The Bainbridge High School boys swim team finished third in the WIAA 3A Swim and Dive State Championships over the weekend in Federal Way.
Its depth was key as its 200-yard freestyle relay team was the only winner in an event. Robbie Nakhuda, Jason Geddes, Mathias Bang-Knudsen and Elias Dean won with a time of 1 minute, 26.13 seconds.
The team’s next-best finish was fourth in the 400 free relay with Bang-Knudsen, Inoue, Nakhuda and Dean with a time of 3:12.42.
In the 50 free, Dean finished sixth in 21.70 seconds with Nakhuda seventh in 22.07 and Bang-Knudsen 14th in 22.29.
Dean also finished sixth in the 100 free in 48.05, Nakhuda was eighth in 48.48 and Bang-Knudsen 11th in 48.93.
The Spartans 200 medley relay team finished seventh in 1:41.51. The team consisted of Sota Inoue, Eddie Nakhuda, Ian Letson and Geddes.
Inoue finished 10th in the 200 individual medley in 1:59.39, and Letson was 14th in 2:02.23.
Inoue placed 13th in the 100 backstroke in 55.19 seconds. And Ryan Rich was 16th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.79.
Lakeside won the team title with 254 points. BHS had 169.
