Bainbridge has swimmers in eight of 12 events in today’s finals of the state 3A Swim and Dive Championships in Federal Way .
Friday, senior Oskar Bannister had his fastest times of the year in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, but he finished second both times.
BI placed fourth in both the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.
The medley relay was rated eighth going into the preliminaries. The team consists of Colin McDevitt, Thomas Witty, Finn Wenker and Bannister.
The Spartans were ranked third in the freestyle relay going in with team members Colin McDevitt, Eamon Greathouse, Harrison Villella and Bannister.
BI also was ranked third in the 200 free relay, but finished fifth Friday. On that team are Jason Nordgren, Greathouse, Villella and Wenker.
Placing fifth and qualifying for the finals in the 100 breaststroke was Thomas Witty. He ranked eighth going into the competition.
Witty also just barely made the finals in the 200 individual medley placing eighth. But he was rated 15th going into Friday’s race.
The final BHS swimmer to make today’s finals in McDevitt, who placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke. He was rated 10th going in.
In 1-meter diving, senior Henry Sauermann was rated sixth going in but finished in 16th place.
