The Bainbridge High varsity boys lacrosse team’s shot at the state championship was blocked by the visitors from Bellevue on Wednesday, May 22.
It was the semi-final match of the postseason playoffs, and Bellevue managed a 16-12 victory at Bainbridge High’s Memorial Stadium over the Spartans to advance to the state match Saturday.
The island squad thus ended the year with a combined regular and postseason record of 16-4 overall. They’d finished the regular season in the top spot of the 3A Metro League standings (4-0 in conference, 14-4 overall).
