BHS beats all in steeplechase race

The Spartans swept the top three spots in the 1500-meter steeplechase at the Bremerton Invitational on Saturday.

Tyler Cox was first in the 1.5K event, and finished in 4:45.96.

Austin Harper nabbed second with a time of 4:51.78, while fellow Spartan Ford Eimon was third in 4:53.82.

Eimon was also sixth in the 400-meter. He finished in 55.98, his best time of the season.

Bainbridge runners also fared well in the girls hurdle events and distance races.

Mikelle Ackerley won the 800-meter in 2:23.28, while teammate Alison Wise was second in 2:29.71.

Anna Misenti was second in the 1-mile run with a time of 6:07.58.

Katelyn Shephard was unbeatable in the hurdles. She placed first in the 100-meter (16.62) and was also first in the 300-meter (51.11).

In other competition for the Spartan girls, Bailey List placed fifth in the 100-meter with a time of 13.81, her best mark in the 100 this year.

She also placed seventh in the 200-meter with a time of 29.00.

Lindsay Wienkers shot to a third-place finish in the 400-meter in 102.29.

Fellow Spartan Aerin Amore finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:02.71.

In other boys events, Jay Terry claimed fourth place for the Spartans in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 18.06.

Casey Brink took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.61, and Terry was sixth in 46.92.

Bainbridge also did well in the discus.

Taylor Wilson was fourth with a toss of 103-09, and Casey Brink was fifth with a throw of 100-03.

Taylor Wilson won the javelin, and took first with a throw of 162-02.

Jack Odell won the high jump for the Spartans (5-06.00).

The Spartans finished in fifth in points (58) for both boys and girls. Kennedy was first in total boys points, with 150, and Decator topped the girls’ scores, with 181.
