Bainbridge hosted the first gymnastics meet of the 2024 season Jan. 8 winning with 155.2 points.
North Kitsap finished second with 143.9 and Kingston finished third with 36.8 points.
Although the Spartans took up most of the podium spots, a handful of Vikings battled to the 10th of a point for certain places in each event. Spartan Jade Bereman won the all-around with 34.7 points. She won the uneven parallel bars with a score of 8.25, balance beam with 8.85 and floor exercise with 9.1, along with finishing second in the vault with an 8.5.
North Kitsap’s young phenom Callie Hinds finished second in the all-around with 32.45 points. Hinds finished second in the uneven bars with a 6.9, balance beam with 8.8 and floor exercise with 8.4. She also finished fifth in the vault with an 8.35.
Spartans’ Jacqui Beresford and Grace Reeb finished third and fourth in the all-around with scores of 30.8 and 30. Beresford finished third in the balance beam at 8.7, fifth in the uneven bars with a 6.3 and sixth in the vault with an 8.3. Reeb finished second in the floor exercise with an 8.4 and fourth in the balance beam with a 7.9.
Viking Arabelle Miller finished fifth in the all-around with 29.9 points, and Spartan Shawna Smith sixth with 28.35. Miller won the vault with an 8.6, finished third in the uneven bars at 6.65 and sixth in the floor exercise with a 7.6. Smith finished fifth in the balance beam with a score of 7.75.
Kingston’s three gymnasts did not rank top six in any events. Their best event was scoring 11.6 points in the floor exercise.
