SEATTLE – The Bainbridge Spartans won their third meet in a row in girls varsity gymnastics late last week, with a victory over West Seattle and Chief Sealth.
BHS finished with a team total of 168.5 in the Jan. 5 competition. West Seattle was second with 137.3, and Chief Sealth finished third with 100.5.
Kati Cooper was first in all-around competition with a total score of 35.30.
She was followed by sister Spartans Emma Chee (33.80), Mariko Ronan (33.60), Remi Rosencrans (32.30), Lina Klinkenberg (29.95), Althea Pippinger (29.85), Sydney Johnson (29.80) and Karena Klinkenberg (29.0).
Chee and Cooper tied in the vault at 8.80.
Lina Klinkenberg finished right behind at 8.50. Karena Klinkenberg and Ronan both scored 8.40, and Rosencrans, 8.20.
Cooper paced the Spartans on uneven parallel bars (8.50), followed by Rosencrans (7.50), Chee (6.90), Nicole Houmes (6.80), Ronan and Sydney Johnson (6.50).
On the balance beam, Ronan and Cooper tied with scores of 9.20.
Chee and Alathea Pippinger also tied at 8.90, followed by Karesse Pippinger (8.10).
In the floor exercise event, Ronan placed first for the Spartans with a score of 9.50.
Other Spartan scores on floor: Rosencrans (9.30), Chee (9.20), Cooper (9.00), Lina Klinkenberg (8.85), and Johnson and Althea Pippinger (8.60).
The Spartan gymnasts return to the Rock for a home meet at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12 against Chief Sealth, Nathan Hale and West Seattle.
