The Spartans swamped the Rough Riders in girls swimming & diving last week as Bainbridge bested Roosevelt 116-70.
BHS won six races and also the 1-meter diving event.
In the first race of the meet, the Spartans had a state-qualifying time in the 200-yard medley relay, with Margaret Hayes, Milena Broom, Moorea Eldon-Everts and Xaveria Rodriguez placing first in 1:55.71. The time need to qualify for the state 3A championships is 1:56.00.
The Bainbridge B relay team was second in the event, with Zoey Ragan, Lucy King, Hannah Lee and Zeya Korytko finishing in 2:03.20.
The Spartans also dominated in the 200-yard individual medley, with Bainbridge’s Amelia Kimball and King finishing first and second.
Kimball had a first-place time of 2:22.02, while King came in at 2:27.11.
Hayes and Rodriguez also went one-two for Bainbridge in the 50-yard freestyle.
Hayes was first in a state time of 25.01, and Rodriguez touched the wall for second at 25.55.
Bainbridge divers took the top three spots in 1-meter diving.
Jackie Helmers won the event, with a finals score of 177.35.
Bruyn Tiernan claimed second for the Spartans (171.65), while teammate Karena Klinkenberg was third (151.20).
Hayes was also the winner in the 500-yard freestyle, with a state-qualifying time of 5:11.58. (The mark to hit for state is 5:21.00).
The Spartans were also sensational in the relay races.
The foursome of Hannah Tonsmann, Naomi Howard, Lee and Rodriguez placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.12.
The relay team of Hayes, Siena Levan, Howard and Tonsmann also finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a top time of 3:45.36.
