WATER POLO
Last-second goal beats Newport
Kalise Ball’s steal and lob shot over the goalie’s head with 10 seconds remaining gave the girls water polo team a 6-5 win over Newport on Wednesday. It was Ball’s second goal of the game. Anna Wood also had two scores while Jeanette Swanson and Alicia Konkel added solo tallies.
Last Friday the team lost 8-5 to CPA, a select team from the Lake Sammamish area. “We didn’t play our best polo in that we were plagued by turnovers and CPA was quick to capitalize on the counter-attack,” said coach Forrest Wells. Konkel and Taylor Gawlik both scored twice, while Wood had a single goal.
