BIR alumna on title-winning Stanford squad

GOLD RIVER, California – Stanford University lightweight rowing won its third consecutive Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship earlier this month at Lake Natoma.

In the boat, making her second title race appearance with the team, was Bainbridge Island Rowing alumna Samantha Dore. She rowed seventh seat behind the stroke in the lightweight 8 women’s boat.

Last year, Dore made the varsity eight, and her boat won gold at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship Regatta on Mercer Lake in New Jersey.

Stanford’s lightweights went on to win the overall points total for the second straight year, medaling in each boat class to edge out Boston University by four points.

Dore is a sophomore majoring in political science with a minor in international relations.
