Bainbridge Island Rowing’s Junior team raced in fog and sun at the Head of the Snohomish regatta in Everett on Sunday, Oct. 14.
“It was a good test of our rowers and preparation for Head of the Lake, the final race of the fall season,” said Varsity Boy’s Coach, Bruce Beall.
Fall regatta season consists of 5,000-meter timed races, with boats being sent off from the start line at intervals.
Other participants at at the Head of the Snohomish regatta included Lakeside, Greenlake Rowing and Everett Rowing.
Next, Bainbridge Island Rowing competed in the USRowing Head of the Charles in Boston on Oct. 21 and will also head to the USRowing Portland Classic Saturday, Oct. 27.
The season closes with USRowing’s Head of the Lake at the Montlake Cut in Seattle, Sunday, Nov. 4.
Bainbridge Island Rowing is a community-based non-profit founded in 2001.
Members believe that rowing changes lives, “and our purpose is to support the attainment of recreational, fitness, and competitive rowing goals for all by providing outstanding coaching, equipment, and facilities in a friendly, collaborative, and social setting,” according to group officials.
BIR activities take place at Waterfront Park on Eagle Harbor and throughout the greater Puget Sound area.
