Bainbridge 48, Sequim 10

Spartan freshman Jack Grant threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another 82 yards and a score in his team’s first victory of the season. Bainbridge just about moved the ball at will against Sequim and scored 35 unanswered points to turn a close game in the first half into a blowout. Jeff Utter, a quarterback turned slot receiver, caught six passes for 83 yards, and Luke Lavigne caught six passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Durrance also caught two scores and had 76 receiving yards. The Spartans forced six turnovers — four fumble recoveries (one each for Will Triggs, Harris Inithar, Durrance and Tommy Lockyear) and two interceptions (Triggs and Lavigne).

North Kitsap 56, Port Angeles 0

The Vikings had last week off, but showed little rust on a road trip to the Olympic Peninsula as they crushed Port Angeles 56-0 Friday night. Colton Bower led the way with 247 passing yards and four touchdowns, connecting for one score each with Logan Sloman, Lincoln Castillo, Ethan Guerra and Jaxson Gore. Bower also recorded two pick-sixes on defense, and Castillo also had an interception for the Vikings. North Kitsap will get a good test this week when it hosts Olympic in Poulsbo Friday night.

North Mason 27, Kingston 13

The Bucs looked like they might have a chance to overtake North Mason in the second half following Brooks Arnim’s interception and return to midfield. They trailed 19-13 at that point, but a key drive stalled, and the Bulldogs went back down the field to pick up another score to ice the victory. Arnim scored two rushing touchdowns for Kingston and threw for 124 yards. Dakota Standley had two receptions for 57 yards and a fumble recovery.

Olympic 35, Bremerton 14

The Trojans picked up their third-consecutive victory over their crosstown rival as they did a good job in slowing down Bremerton’s rushing attack. Olympic limited the Knights to 115 yards on the ground and forced them to throw 15 times, more than any other game this season. Olympic quarterback Dylan Boschee-Perry threw for 174 yards and rushed for 93, and Kamano Ruis added 93 rushing yards and three scores. The two teams were scoreless after one quarter, but Ruis opened the scoring on the first play of the second quarter to give his team a 7-0 lead. Bremerton answered as Joshua Tapangco found Junior Newman for a 41-yard touchdown, but just before halftime Boschee-Perry hit Greysen Phillips for a 53-yard score to take the lead. Ruis scored two more times in the second half, and Boschee-Perry connected with Luke Silva for a score as well.

Central Kitsap 20, Gig Harbor 14

It was the Kouper Hall show for the Cougars as he rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns in a close victory over the Tides. CK fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter, but had the next three scores. Quarterback Kalai Pasi scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown late in the quarter to tie the game at seven and in the third, Hall struck from 5 yards out to give the Cougars the lead. Hall scored again in the fourth quarter, and Central Kitsap ceded a late passing touchdown to Gig Harbor, but held on for the win.

Sumner 44, South Kitsap 0

The Wolves couldn’t get much going against one of the best teams in Washington state. Sumner scored on its first drive of the game and kept on scoring as they led the game 37-0 by halftime and added one more score in the second half to trigger the running clock.
